Any thoughts peeps?

For me, this passage emphasises that although Gnosticism seems dualistic on the surface i.e. God vs Demiurge. When you really know the truth of it, you see that Gnostics understand all is One.

Those who truly understand this are "exhalted above the world" or in otherwords are enlightened with the gnosis of the truth of God.

I get pretty much the same thing. But then again, you're talking to the girl who didn't even think Gnosticism was dualistic. I always saw the one power behind it all....

In the mainstream Christianity and Judaism, I see God and Satan in two possibilities:

• Two different persons, so therefore 2 different gods, thus good and evil.
• But since, they can't accept such dualism, then God and Satan are One God, but two different aspect. Sort of like, a coin with 2 faces - good and evil.

The 2nd possibility would make God - two-faced. All good and evil come from him.

Do you mean that you see the (original) Perfect Aeon and the Demiurge as the One in Gnosticism, halcyon?

If so, then wouldn't discount the myth in Apocryphon of John?

There's a passage of the TTC that is incredibly similar to this. Not the same words but almost the same... sentence structure. So yes I agree with this. It seems to be about comparing, and how two opposites we would compare or use as standards for comparison are integral because of their relativity.

Edit : Thereby showing comparison as a relative tool, and therefore beyond the absolute of Gnosis/Tao/... (sorry for the edit... just forgot to write the conclusion of my point).
