2012 the movie and Islam

What is the big deal? The writers are morons fearing death threats for destroying a Holy Islamic site.

Does this not fuel the extremists? Islam has gotten a bad rap because of some miscreants.

I pose this question. If people keep caving from fear of extremists will it not add more fuel to the fire? Does it not give a madman the feeling of victory? Will it not lead to more terrorism because it seems to be working?

well why should they destroy a islamic holy site, so they can become famous, so they can earn some money, leave us alone and we will do the same. you don't see us do that kind of stuff to anyone else of any other religion. respect us if you want respect.

Archer, when it comes to intercultural relations we must try to understand each way of thinking and perception. If we know that Muslims are offended by something like this then we should respect it. They do not think the same way as you or I and would probably see this as symbolic of something completely different to the actual intention. But we must respect it or expect consequences.

I would like the same respect because of who I am and what I believe not because I will kill someone. I guess the thing is respect does not equal fear.

As to the leave us alone thing, well I posed this question on 9/11. If China were to invade the US and you had no choice but to see them and you did not want them here what would you do?

You should understand the reasons this writer refused to destroy Islam's holy site...Because if he did that, we Arabs will boycott his movie, so he will lose many dollars!!! See how it is?!

That movie was broadcasted here in Arab countries during Eid Al-Adha!

Wasn't the reason he refused to do it because he was afraid for his safety, not ticket sales?

Both are quite reasonable explanations for the director and producer not to depict the destruction of a relic sacred to Islam.

So true of course you would, myslef I probably boycott it anyway due to the sheer stupidity of the concept of why. I understand that it scientifically are around the level of Core. Being bored a night I switched on the TV and Core was on about when they begin their subterranean trip. I soon feel asleep but was awoke long enough to regret beginning to watch it. If you really want to destroy the world there are other ways, more believable, maybe not 100% scientifically accurate but close enough enough to fool a person of average intelligence and schooling.
