Actually the label seems entirely reasonable to me.

As a kid, I was taught that the Bible was mainly true, and that Jesus was this "good guy", who helped the poor, and cured the sick.

And while the Old testament is undoubtably horrible, cruel book with an equally horrible and cruel god, Jesus and the NT (apart from the sheer arrogance of claiming to be able to forgive everyone) is a fairly decent story, and a pretty decent moral way to live.

So even tho I escaped unscathed from the BS stories presented as fact, I can see that "leading a christian way of life" could be a good thing...(In fact it is a great pity that so few Christians seem to do so).
So what is wrong with taking that part of the Bible, rejecting the supernatural, and following teachings of a generally good (whether real or fairytale) guy?

"Christian atheist" makes as good as any label for such a group.

sure I can take the story of Princess Diana and Charles and make it inot a simple story about a big eared man who is in love with a horse that married his own cousin.

We can reduce and read anythign into anything, especially the story of Jesus

still, as has been pointed out, the title CHRIST has a lot of signifigcance, to totally ignore this is missing a major thing....

But then, Charles got his squidgy and the cousin died....

of course its not a hobby...

but I was discussing atheism and the fact that non belief is still a belief, as far as dialetic mundane consciouness is concerned...
