I don't know if you know who you're arguing with or not Fatihah but Mr Sprinkles is a Physicist and Painted Wolf is a biologist (both of whome have a very considerable grasp of science), as well as other members in here who have broad scientific knowledge.

Now tell me, when everyone in here says the same thing, against you, doesn't something click in your head that perhaps you are wrong? Honestly .
Response: O.K. So according to your logic, if everyone here said that 2+2 is 86 that would mean that perhapd their right and I'm wrong? That type of logic is completely illogical. And if these two individuals are what you claim they are then they are in complete denial. The evidence is clear and was presented in post 509 that mountains do in fact balance the earth's surface. An elementary school science book says this. And as I said before, you will never come across a reliable scientist, or science book or article, or website that will say differently. That's a challenge.

That's probably a difficult statement to find. On the other hand, it would also be difficult to find scientists explicitly saying that says buoys "do not" balance the ocean's surface. That doesn't mean buoys balance the ocean's surface.

Yes, "the weight of the earth surface" (emphasis mine) is what it says. Weight is a force.

And as I said, the sentence you are interested in is from Wikipedia which is not always reliable...it's gramatically incorrect...and not cited properly....and not completely accurate, physically. That's why I quoted three sources which explain isostacy. Did you read them?
Response: No I haven't. I didn't see the post. I would like to but then this brings up a problem. You see, we cannot get into picking and choosing a website that suits us best individually. Then we fall into the game of "my site is right and yours is wrong".

The point of my post was to consider very carefully who you debate with. You can learn a lot from them rather than simply and very ineffectively chasing your own agenda.

Your geology knowledge has big gaps in it. You have displayed this in your above post as well as throughout the thread. Refer to this:

It is the earth maintaining equilibrium. In simple terms, the force upwards (pressure from plate collisions) has to be equal to the force downwards (weight of rock, gravity) in order to release the pressure build up, and cancel out the forces applied by collisions. Through this, the earth is strong and will retain whatever shape its in.

Ok, from simple mechanics, if you put upward pressure on a car balanced on a point what happens, it goes up right? How do you balance that upward movement? You push down with another force to balance it. Essentially (very very basically) thats whats happening with the mass of rock. The rock forms downwards to balance the upward force due to pressure and the bouyancy force of the low density material associated with it?

Do you get it?

From the previous page. A bouy (meaning a bouyant force) is the force which you would commonly expect to hear in regards to water. If you have a soccer ball, the bouyant force is the upward force which prevents the ball sinking under its own weight, as well as gravity

Okay but even if you use Wikipedia, the article on isostacy says the same thing as the websites I got: it's essentially Archimedes' principle, applied to mountains. It's only that one sentence you quoted which has the word "balance" and "earth surface" in it, but again: bad grammer, not cited properly, it says the weight of the surface (a force, not the position of the surface itself), and it's not quite accurate physically. And Wikipedia, as you know can be edited by anyone.

One of the websites I provided is the Mathematica website, it's extensively used by scientists, engineers, physicists, mathematicians, etc. It's a great reference. It cites published papers. The Mathematica software promoted by the website is extremely useful for doing quantum mechanics homework. And all the websites I provided showed up on the first page when I typed "isostacy" in Google.
