The only thing I can think of is today's Jewish Passover traditions may be different from those observed in Christ's time. There were probably 7 feasts, 7 days of lambs slaughtered, 7 days of unleavened bread eaten. Last edited by FFH; 04-11-2009 at 05:01 AM.. |

As far as today's Jewish traditions go, are these two verses the same day ???
17 And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten. 18 In the first day shall be an holy convocation; ye shall do no manner of servile work therein: |

Yes, today's tradition is slightly different... There is no temple, hence there is no sacrifice.... and outside of Israel, there are two feasts, one on the 15th, one on the 16th, and there are a total of 8 days, instead of 7. (In Israel, there is still 7 days and only one feast.) But back then, there was not 7 feasts, there were not 7 days of slaughtered lambs. Back then, on the 14th in the afternoon, the lamb was slaughtered. Hours later, at night (the 15th), the lamb was eaten. the remaining 6 days, it was forbidden to eat anything leavened. The 7th day was also a holy convocation. |

Okay, I've revised this a little. This has to be a correct timeline.
Numbers 28 Tuesday after 6 pm (Christ eats the passover meal with his disciples, breaks bread and drinks wine as emblems of his body and blood) 16 And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the Lord. Wednesday (passover preperation day) (Christ crucified and layed in the tomb) Wednesday 6 pm (first day of the seven days of unleavened bread feasts begin) 17 And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten. 18 In the first day shall be an holy convocation; ye shall do no manner of servile work therein: Thursday (First day Christ's body lay in the tomb) Friday (Second day Christ's body lay in the tomb) Saturday (Christ rises on the thrid day on the Sabbath) Sunday (Just before dawn Christ appears to Mary Magdalene) Last edited by FFH; 04-11-2009 at 05:19 AM.. |

See the word "feast" that I made much larger? That is the only "Passover meal". There is no Passover meal had before then. Passover either started on Tuesday night, or Wednesday night. Which is it? |

But, if Jesus was buried on Friday, then the feast of unleavened bread happened on Thursday night... which is impossible, because Passover cannot be on the 2nd, 4th, or 6th day of the week. Something is terribly wrong. |

There were 8 days of passover in Christ's time, just as there are 8 days of passover in today's Jewish passover. So what is done today, on the first day of the Jewish 8 day passover, prior to the 7 days of unleavened bread feasts ??? Why the "extra" day ???? Last edited by FFH; 04-11-2009 at 05:32 AM.. |
