Perhaps you may not have known in the first instance, but once hit with the rod of God, you only had to ask for an exemption form for your parents to fill out, and you would have been out of there, Quote:
thats the whole point! what if it is the wish of the parents that you are sent to a same faith school?

Kai - same with us before high school as well. A church lady would come in and get us to colour pictures of noah and the disciples. It was very basic biblical teaching, a fantastic way to brainwash the youth of today. Same faith schools need to have the common sense to acknowledge that teaching one religion only may not benefit the child. However, i think they mix up which is more important, spreading their message or the childs best interests.

Pretty much, i've had more allegories in my ancient history class. I remember distinctly as a 12 year old learning about the great flood and Jesus's ressurection. It should be a crime to teach that to a 12 year old as though it was history.

ok thats great, but what i am trying to say is they could choose Judaism just because they go to a jewish school and all their peers are jewish. this is pressure, pressure from being at a jewish school. Pressure that would not be there at a non faith school. (again you can change that to any religion)

Tough tissue mate, that's the name of the game, until you reach the age of maturity and are no longer under parental controll, you will do as they wish, but I believe if those schools had to be funded solely by the parents who wish to protect their children fom the evils of the state education system, I'm sure there would be less children going to private schools, which, without government funding would eventually fold up. |

i agree , children come under all kinds of influences, religious people are one of them, personally i want my kids to make up their own minds and not be influenced over a period of years by someone elses definition of the the "truth" i would never consider sending my kids to a school funded and run by a religion. even if the school was turning out good grades its also turning out faith.and sectarianism. its not even a subtle way to promote "us and them".

As I said previously, in Australia the private schools receive more government funding than the public school system in which 75% of the children are enrolled, take away the Government funding and let them fill their libraries and pay their teachers and buy all their computers etc with the fees paid by the parents of those children, which fees, by the way aren't to shabby and give that money to the state system, then let's see who turns out the better grades. |
