i do not beleive it ,i beleive its a combination of events that happen to you as your personality forms, and circumstances and events you are in , and mental ilness can be a factor. i do not beleive in Satan or any other baddies including the joker.

Unless you believe people exist before physical birth (ie, their souls are 'put into' a fetus) then no. Evil is a choice which could only be taken by someone with a concept of right and wrong, which a baby does not have.

I wonder if sociopaths are born that way or if they are created by their early life experiences?

I don't believe in evil, so...
Perhaps a baby can be born with a set of aspects that humans view as evil, but eventually life will form the child anyway..

I suppose there could be some minor genetic disposition, but I bet the majority of it is their environment and development, since evil is a purely psychological thing.

The people we would call "evil", it seems to me, are those who may be otherwise intelligent, but who basically lack the capacity for compassion for anyone other than themselves, and who lack the capacity to feel guilt as normal people do. These people are called psychopaths, and the evidence is overwhelming that their brains are physically different from the brains of normal people. Here's a recent twin study that demonstrates strong genetic factors in psychopathy: Psychopathic personality traits: heritability and genetic overlap with internalizing and externalizing psychopathology
So to answer the question of the OP, basically yes, there are people who are simply born with a set of genes which, under normal conditions, will result in them exhibiting psychopathic behavior as an adult. The worst of these people are evil, however, by their nature, not because of any choices they have made; in other words, they are basically monsters. Why Allah would create these monsters who simply do not have the brain function to feel compassion for others is a mystery, of course....a mystery which vanishes when we consider the possibility that Nature is our creator, not Allah. |

Define "evil", is it what you consider is wrong, what society considers to be wrong, or what your religion considers to be wrong?

I believe that the true Self is the Spirit and the Spirit is always pure. However, over the course of one's life, one can choose to do evil things.
