I heard about this story , and from what Ive heard from military folk is the consensus that either a) it did not happen and the guys making up all of it to get attention, or b) its just a really strange incident where the system broke down. The primary reason is this---if there were such an incident occurring to the extent this guy claims, then the troops' Chaplain would have become aware of it and gone to intercede well before it became a problem. Thats their job.
its possible this incident slipped under the radar of the chaplain, maybe, and the chain of command. but whats interesting is it seems the guy went over his superior's head. and from what i understand its standard procedure to assign guards to someone who feels their life is in danger, pending an investigation. so, on the one hand i hope this guy was making it up, since it would show a real breakdown in the US military that soldiers are threatening each other over something that should be held sacred, our basic freedoms,....but at the same time i hope he isnt making it up, because that makes him sound like a whiny idiot just looking for attention.
