I Would Like to Thank Some of the Christians Here (Jesus, homosexuals)

I have never had anything against homosexuals. I have never understood why people would treat tehm so differently. On the other hand, I didn't really identify with them either. When I heard about things that happened regarding them, I was more indifferent than anything. Lately I have come to identify more with them, though. I am not gay, myself, as most of you know. I found recently when I heard about California allowing gay marriages that I was actually happy, and felt a little vindicated. I wasn't just indifferent and nonresponsive. I actually was extremely happy.

Why? Well, it's all thanks to some of the Christians I've talked to lately who've shown me what gay people have to deal with, and for showing me the opposite view. I am now happy to have things changing so that these views will change too. It's nice to know that all who are against gay marriage will be forced to deal with it as it becomes more widespread in the coming years. It's also nice to know that the attitudes of people will change towards gays and gay marriages as they become more common and mundane, just as peoples' attitudes towards black people and other races have changed, especially since interracial marriages were made legal.

So, thank you to those Christians who've helped me be more of a supporter of gay rights and homosexuals in general. I guess I was wrong about you, you really have shown me the light.

And for every one of the Christians you speak of I want to thank the ones who truly seem to strive to be Christ-like and show Jesus' love for each and every one of us through their words and deeds. I know I can sometimes be bitter towards my former religion, but there are Christians here on this forum who show me time and again that no matter if you believe or not that the transforming power of love in Jesus' message is real. To them, I say a heartfelt "Thank you!"

Yes, of course. I shouldn't leave them out, and thank you for reminding me. I do appreciate all of the Christians who show true compassion and understanding, too. Your are wonderful examples not of good Christians, but of good people.

But you know, mball, there will always be tons of people who hate gay people, just like there are still tons of racists. People suck, and no laws will ever be able to change that.

i dont' have anything against them but i'm against promoting the whole gay thing...

i mean promoting it is what leads to a higher percent of people being gay in the first place and if you ask a lot of gay people, they'd probably tell you it'd be easier if they weren't.
