Authors who try to kill God. (America, preacher, gnostic, bible)

I thought Dan Brown had cornered the market in anti-religious nonsense (or anti conventional religion, I ought to say), but I've just read something that far exceeds Brown's best (worst?) efforts. "The Armageddon Conspiracy" by Mike Hockney plays the Dan Brown game of purporting to be true at some level, and puts together a vast amount of circumstantial evidence (to be fair, it seems thoroughly well researched) to justify his claim that for thousands of years an ingenious Gnostic conspiracy has been attempting to engineer the unthinkable - to kill God! (The conspirators will apparently be in a position to effect their plot in 2012.) It manages to fit in stuff about King Solomon's Temple, King Arthur and the Holy Grail, the Ark of the Covenant, the Spear of Destiny, the Cathars, Freemasons, Alchemists, Knights Templar, Nazis, and even American Special Forces. I suppose I could say it's quite thought-provoking and even entertaining, but why is there this desire amongst so many contemporary authors to kill off God? Why can't someone write a thriller in which God comes out looking good for a change!

First, DB did not try and kill god, but wrote a book on what he thought occurred. Just like Matthew, Mark, James, Paul…….. etc.. etc.. as in each they have variations to the same story.

And MH, may have worked on Gnosis and still there again it seems the point of comprehending what the material conveys simply was missed; Gnostic teachings are supposed to be from JC himself sharing that each man is equal and that knowledge and recognition to god’s presence can be known by each equally.

Sorry but whom ever corrupted your mind with such fibs is as cruel as the preachers who suggest a man will return to remove your atrocities from existence.

They did, read the bible but remember non-fiction is provable and can be empirically established in fact. In contrast science fiction confides in magic and omnipotence. Non-fiction can apply in real world understanding just like a manual to learn exactly how it works. Sci-fi, builds hope in non existing paradigm and fills the mind with the guise of miracles so that the few who really have no understanding with find it most believable.
