"West Semitic" includes groups from Ethiopia to present-day Israel and beyond. The term can be equally applied to some people in ancient Egypt and some that never set foot near it. What I'm saying is that the group of Western Semitic people who became the Jewish civilization living in Israel/Caanan were indigenous to that area, they didn't arrive in that area by mass migration from Egypt, and they were therefore not enslaved in Egypt or descended from people who were.

It is my belief that the ancient Israelites may not have been slaves. I believe that they were the Hyksos people that occuppied Egypt for a good number of years. Unlike some accounts how they 'left' Egypt, I believe that there were a number of natural events that occurred from a giant off-shore earthquake that opened up opportunities for them to leave just as the Bible says. These Bible miracles being shrouded in naturalism, so to speak.
