God's ability to answer all prayers yet not doing it is the same as not being able to answer all prayers for all practical intents and purposes Emu.

Weather God(any God for that matter) answers prayers or not I don't care. But you seem to have a vary closed view on people and really don't know jack. Weather or not I care for a religion or not I can see that in them people, a lot of people pray more then for just themselves. I see more people in all religions praying for this whole world and it's people, not just for themselves and there family and/or friends.

I know people well enough Azakel, your naivety is obvious.
But its ok because what goes around comes around...

Explain then why if people are not so bad as you claim then why does the majority of the population of this planet live in abject poverty, why does the richest 'democracy' on Earth bomb (poor!) civillian centres to eradicate 'insurgents'?

LOL...not that its a laughing matter, but like I said what goes around comes around.

I despise all human beings, without exception, unfortunately for my sanity though my better judgement demands the greater good.

I guess I just feel sorry for you all, I suppose...

I think God wants us to pray for the mundane things in life to help us realize our dependance upon him and his providence. Of course, we are to pray for our brother and sisters who are suffering! We are also called to help them as well out of our abundance. But, I agree that God really doesn't give two hoots what sports team wins.

If he is omnipotent then he is capable of answering all prayers; petty or otherwise.

But He doesn't so thats as good as Can't, therefore omnipotent or not, God only answers particular prayers...why then would He even consider answering the prayer of someone who is already very lucky indeed?

Perhaps a person in need is closer to god than one who is, "very lucky indeed". Someone who is drowning may pray for air, but perhaps god has other plans for them after their departure from this world... plans, which are more satisfying for the individual than his/her next breath of air.

Perhaps god answers the mundane prayer of a student worried about an exam as a way to spark some faith within the individual's heart.

"God works in mysterious ways" is a most unsatisfactory answer, but I fear it is the best my limited mind can provide for this topic.

Does He now?

Unfortunately for me I do not believe in outmoded belief concepts like heaven and hell, maybe then it would make sense, suffer now have good times later...yeah thats what they would like you to think...
