You know that at Burger King you can have it your way? It seems there is also the Burger King Jesus. Some people want to have Him any way they want Him. What we know about Jesus comes from the Bible. His characteristics. His attributes. His Position. His authority.
Yet there are those who seemingly accept the concept of Jesus but apply their own version of who He is. Why is this?

There are lots of common threads among the four canonical gospels, but there are wide differences of emphasis. So even among biblically faithful folks, there are some disagreements. As a result, you have guys like me who believe Jesus is fully God and fully man at the same time. Uss_bigd disagrees, although he claims to also be following the biblical Jesus. At issue isn't really the bible but the place of tradition in the interpretation of the bible. Uss_bigd and others who deny the divinity of Jesus tend to view Church tradition with a very skeptical eye. Others who accept the divinity of Jesus either know about and accept Church tradition or they are ignorant of it yet accept it anyway because that's how they've been taught to read the bible.
That said, I think there's such a thing as better and worse interpretations of scripture. My point is only that how one understands Jesus tends to be a function of the tradition to which they fall heir.
