For Christians, if the biblical story of Jesus was proven to be untrue, would it affect your faith?
I.e., if documents surfaced proving most of the material of the NT was forged, would it affect your faith, or would your faith remain unphased?

For Christians, I don't understand how it couldn't.
As for me, I wouldn't be the least bit shocked. |

If most Christians are willing to accept that the fall of man told in Genesis is allegorical, I'm sure they could also live with an allegorical redemption.

I'm not sure what it would take to "prove" the NT untrue. The hypothetical documents you refer to might themselves have been forged. Historiography is at best an inexact science.
Christian faith is rooted in historical events but isn't based on history (human reconstructions of past events). Rather, it is based on faith in Jesus, which is given as a gift from God. A preacher preaches, and the convert is given faith by God to believe. It's nice that historiography vindicates the New Testament, but if it did not, I wouldn't counsel a believer to abandon her faith. Who knows? Perhaps the next set of documents might "prove" things the other way again. |

Any proof brought to light is usually flatly denied, rejected and dismissed as conspiracy/propaganda by the majority of believers.

The same could be said by believers of skeptics. Shall we continue on this merry-go-round, or shall we get off before we get dizzy?

It's already been proven through archeology, philology, and all other similar fields of study that the NT was not forged. The NT has proved to be the most historically accurate, well preserved document from ancient times, and there any many extra-biblical sources that talk about Jesus, even if they do so unfavorably. Perhaps you should go ask the Mormons since they're in the predicament you describe.
