While I think it's offensive to equate homosexuality and bestiality, I think that the term "gay bashing" implies actual physical violence or a real, direct threat of it.

I have considered it and you have brought up the idea before. I think this is a ridiculous argument, but please explain how same sex marriage actually harms you. The discomfort you feel is not caused by same sex marriage but rather caused by your own ideas. Imagine that you didn’t like people wearing hats. If that were the case and if I were to wear a hat that would bother you. That does not mean my hat is responsible for harming you, you would be harmed by your own irrationality. This is not at all the same thing as someone trying to pass laws that will actually restrict your freedom.

Certainly you would agree that I don’t have the right to restrict your freedom simply because I don’t like something. You don’t have to support homosexuality, your support is not required. You don’t need me to support your marriage and they don’t need you to support theirs. Taking active steps to prohibit them is another matter.

A same sex marriage does no more harm to you than your marriage does to me.

I have to disagree with this. When I hear "gay-bashing", I don't think of physical violence. That certainly can be a part of it, but generally I think of people verbally abusing gays when I hear that term.

i would say that gay bashing is as much verbal as it is physical - i've been victim to both, they taste the same.

Not so my friend. Allowing same gender couples the same rights as heterosexual couples harms no one. It might offend you, but it doesn't harm you. On the other hand the ill effects of inequality to same gender couples and their families have been stated again and again on this forum so I won't bore with a rehashing of that, unless of course you insist.
