well, i don't believe in sin, but i wouldn't say that it is wrong for people to say those things.

i do however think it is wrong for people to act on their feelings in this situation. love the believer, hate the belief

Many UUs don't like the word sin. But others of us find the concept useful in naming that which keeps us from the Beloved Community. For us, we define sin as anything that demeans the other person, makes them "less," puts up a barrier between you and them, makes them "Other." There is the interconnected web of existence of which we all are a part, and if you try to break the connection, that is sin.

To insist that same-sex couples can't have the same right to have their love and commitment recognized and accepted, is to say that they are "Other," and that in our book is a sin.

It is interesting when you stop and really think about what sin really is.

Seems to me that sin is going against the will/wishes/commands/etc. of your chosen deity.
This being the case, if your deity allows same sex relations and you are in a same sex relation, then you are not sinning.
Problem is when certain people start thinking that their particular deity is the one and only deity.

Live in the real world, yes, literally millions, the Southern Baptists are one of the largest denomnations in the U.S., and they are gay bashers. And there are others. Sorry.
