Default Should I start a new Religion?

I've been thinking about starting my own religion. I'm very faithful in my current religion and I believe it is the truth. I want to start a new one just to see if I could do it, and maybe make a little extra money. So I'm going to open it up. Should I start a new religion? If so what doctrines should I use to base the religion on? If not, why?

Tell everyone how worthless they are and you'll likely get plenty of takers

But do it in a way that it sounds like you're being "positive." Go get a bunch of self-help bestsellers to see what is connecting with people right now, and then build a mythology around what's selling these days. Make sure to file for tax exempt status. And funny hats. .. a must . . . the people love funny hats.

We have enough religions. Dare to be like Krishnamurti, and refuse to start a new religion no matter how people beg you.

It worked for Abraham, Paul, Siddartha Guatama, Muhammad and L. Ron Hubbard, why would you think it would not work for you? Oh, and stick with what has previously been suggested with the hats, that seems to be a big selling point. Also make sure you you demonize anyone who is different than your core audience, that is another big point not to overlook.

Sounds like you're following in the ways of Joseph Smith! Although, in my opinion, if you want to create your own religion, studying Hubbard would be the best way to go... really smart philanthroper.
