Life after death (choice, godless, atheist, God, verse)

I see this question as relating to the nature of our existence and as a seperate question from the existence of God.
I don't think it would be inconsistent for a theist to believe that existence ceases at physical death or indeed for an atheist to believe that existence transcends physical death in a godless universe. What does anyone think?

Depending on how we define our (individual) existence, it is a valid possibility. Until a couple of years ago, I couldn't even conceive of that possibility (I hadn't yet formed that defintion).

I'm sure it is possible. But most people probably believe in either both or neither. I personally do not believe in either.

a more intrigueing question might be if there is life before conception/birth. This is not a prolife/choice comment. I be interested to know if you believe in life after death, then why not before conception as well?

Why not indeed. I believe we exist. I see God everywhere so I believe in God. I cannot conceive of not existing, this works both ways on the time line. I believe in existance before conception.

Sandy, the more I think about it you raise a very interesting point. Is it inconsistent to believe in life after death but not existence before conception?
