What do you think about religious fanatics? (beliefs, churches, faith)

Religious fanatics?
Religion is only a path/way/etc.
If one is really travelling on a path; how can one be a fanatic about that path/way? As we all know that there are many roads leading to Rome.
Its not religion.
Its the human mind, which is hyponitised etc.
Only when the mind is silent does one become religious.
What one sees around is only a reflection of his mind, what he likes to see.
So many things are happening around you but you see only that you are conditioned by your mind to see, similarly those who are fanatics of any kind.
Once the mind is silenced then life is seen dynamically all around and the individual is no more an
* I * he is a part of that and he does not see he becomes a part of that.

So, by your own words, every ideology on the planet is wrong. Any form of beliefs, convictions, ideology and faith can be twisted in order to suit a persons own wants and desires. I don’t believe that a religion is to blame for even the most decrepit and violent acts, only the people that commit them. All faiths of the world teach a form of peace and kindness, a fellowship with your fellow man. It is the fanatics that believe that others must be eradicated, not the general doctrines to which they adhere.

Certainly a questionable statement, I would say the focus on most is to attain eternal life of some form or another, NOT peace and fellowship on this earth. Even Jesus supposedly said "I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword"

Matthew 10

This is refering to a spiritual battle, the pining of traditional Hebrew beliefs agains the rising folowers of Christ. Remember that when Jesus spoke, he was often refering of the "sword" to mean truth.

All you have to do is take a look at the troops on the Indian/Pakasine border, and remember the lands of Kashmir to answer that question. The Hindu and the Muslim have been waring for as long as the Muslim and Jewish religions have. I dont want to offend, but my point is that the people, not the religion, are usualy the ones starting the conflicts.

He used flawed science to support his claims. He warped an ideology into something different.

Show me how a message of peace and tolerance can be used to justify an act of violence. I cannot think of any.

Easy.

Lets take Martin Luthor King JR, as he is was an advocate for peace that most people can agree on.

He wanted people to look at eachother and call each other brother, regardless of skin color. This is a noble goal, and it convicted people of all creeds to further embrase their fellow man for what he is. Now, if there was a group that heard him speak, and misunderstood, they could easly take it to mean eradicate those who have no tollerance. *black panther movement of the late 60's.* The Black panthers formed into a black-only group, that left a bloody trail in their wake for half a decade.

Thats just a small example, but do some research on what Muslims teach, and how some of them act to see a more extreme view.
