In another thread a RF member said that they have named their dog Muhammad after discovering in a BBC report that it offends Muslims for teddy bears to be named after the prophet. (Yet more 'standard' islamic extremism... )
This purposeful, hateful action towards Islam I find rather brash and rude. Imagine this member having to tell an Islamic guest in his home why he has named his dog after the most revered prophet of Islam. I wonder, is it offensive to show such disrespect for religious leaders... is it like urinating in a church (and I don't mean in the appropriate place)? Or is such an attempt to be crass and disrespectful something that we should just enjoy like an evening sip of Jack?

Whether one should be offended depends on the motivation/intent for naming the animal.

Wasn't there a company that a few years ago tried to market "Buddha thong underwear"?

We're asssuming here that there is something offensive or lowly about a dog. Such may not be the case. Dogs have many attributes that are superior to a person's. Many are faithful, loyal, protective, and non-judgemental; try to find those traits in a person.

Yeah, I just want to see where people stand on the issue.

Yeah, too bad the limited nature of your leading poll makes it so some will be unable to participate in it.
