Is the existence of God or evidence pointing to the existence of God obvious?
Why or why not?

Heh... I'm going to say "no." If it was, I probably wouldn't be an atheist.

It may seem obvious to someone who already believes. As someone who was an atheist for some time, clearly I did not think it was obvious then.

It's an inane question.

For example, many people feel that "1.9 recurring is not equal to 2" is obvious. Many believed the flatness of the world to be obvious. Many believed geocentricism to be obvious. I don't believe that atheism is obvious but I do believe it to be true. I would also say the same for evolution. How about God?

That, however, was quite good!

I guess the obviousness of something really has no bearing on whether the observation is correct or not. People used to think that the idea of the earth being flat was quite obvious. Some think that god is obvious. I think that the idea of god is obviously flawed. And the idea of god as the subject of a particular religion is even more obviously flawed....much more so.

Is God obvious? Yes. If there are knowable things (i.e. the world), then obviously there must be an unknowable from which to distinguish them. God is what's left when you take the intelligent design out of things. Is the existence of God obvious? Yes, with a particular paradigm shift. Is the evidence pointing to the existence of God obvious? Probably not. It's too often drown out by convention, or as David Hume might say, "custom, habit and imagination."
