Assuming God exists I find it incredible how some people seem to know exactly what the old chap in the sky is thinking, that includes the authors of the Bible! I think wishful thinking is the name of the game! My late 'born again' mother-in-law had God in her pocket, it was just amazing how God's wishes and hers coincided so exactly, even to the food she put on the table and the TV programmes she watched.

Knowing exactly, thinking towards, hoping for, feeling logic, wishing for...feeling...
All a thin line..

Ironically, it makes it easy to justify doing awful and selfish things, too. What response is there to "I know God wants me to do it"?

When you consider all the terrible things done in the name of God from Biblical times to the present day, either God is a psychopath or people have absolutely no idea what goes on in God's psyche, I tend to the latter opinion!

I always find it interesting how the same people who assert "God works in mysterious ways", "God's wisdom is beyond our understanding", and "us trying to fathom the mind of God is like an ant trying to understand ours", then so quickly proceed to tell everyone how God works, what it wants, and how it operates.

Gee, I dunno, do you suppose that's why nearly all religions stress the importance of humility?

Then proceed to tell you theirs is the only true Word of God . . . if only the rest of us were humble enough to accept it.
