I can't say it's the best way as it's not my call to discern for others but certainly if holy works are viewed more from a poetic angle there would be less extremism leading to violence, imo.

Because poetry is generally viewed as having a subjective interpretative value, people tend to be more generous in allowing others their specific viewpoints. And, it's easier to accept the failings of mankind if taken in a poetic context.

i think for many, taking scriptures as being a form of art would devalue them. art is intended to please, scriptures are aimed at truth, and sometimes the truth is not nice to see...

although maybe i do the word art an injustice.

Exactly. The interplay of emotions helps you understand people and the events they're involved in much more readily than dry facts ever could.

Art is meant to convey things that can't be adequitely communicated via language in it's usual usage (although words can definately used artistictly).

Art is meant to produce a catharsis that opens up channels for communication that otherwise remain blocked.

i'm not so sure i would go as far as to say things that your mind can't comprehend... after all, someone was able to comprehend in order to produce the art form. which is why i would put scriptures in a different league to art (providing you believe a scripture to be the word of God) because god is beyond comprehension, and art is not.
