Pearls in scripture are few and far between.

I find them everywhere ... Perhaps the problem is you. After all, you wouldn't be the first person to manage to find precisely what you're looking for.
The eisegesis of a shallow atheist is eisegesis nonetheless.

The problem here is obvious... first you must obtain a clue. Those without said clue are doomed to miss the all but the most obvious treasures.
As some of you know, I dive for fossil sharks teeth off of Venice Beach Florida. My acumen in finding these teeth is well known and many people ask me to take them. This one time I went out, my companion claimed bitterly that there were few sharks teeth there. He only found 52 teeth in a two and a half hour dive. I was down for the same time, diving in the same general area and I surfaced with 437 teeth with a few large ones mixed in. I knew precisely what he did wrong... I didn't have to ask. He simply went too fast. In his haste and inability to examine things carefully he passed at least 385 teeth and probably a LOT more. Patience and tenacity are great qualities to develop. Without them you will miss the most important lessons out there. On our second dive he stayed just a few feet from me for the first half hour. Once he got my slow pace down he moved out on his own. Guess what? He came up with 195 teeth: something few people are able to do. Me? I garnered another 414 teeth. I was a bit distracted by the presence of my friend!

The Psalms and Song of Solomon are works of poetry and no one devalues those written pieces. In fact, SOS is espoused by many rabbis/preachers as a template in how to tenderly treat your wife. I'd say that's taking poetry seriously. |

But they're shiny and easy to spot.

The pearls aren't actually in the scripture, they're in your own heart and mind. All the text does is inspire you to recognize them. That's one thing that scripture does have in common with art.

no, in my experience i already have the comprehension in my mind, i know what my goal is and i know when it doesn't look right - this comprehension can only be in my mind as i am the one shaping it to look right.

What I was saying here is that if it can be fully comprehended, it's not art. ![]() This is all so subjective, debating it is kind of silly. But then debating is an artform too.
