Greetings Lunamoth. Knew we had much in common from previous posts but did not realize we are so close 'on' God - it is heartwarming to be in your company on that.

Interpretations of Tillich are bound to vary from individual to individual because of his complexity, and I could be wrong. From my perspective there are errors in key points about Tillich in Wikipedia. In my view, Tillich is saying 'the courage to be' comes from the realization of the God above Theism. His analysis of human existence indicates that we have the courage and raises why - what is the foundation of such courage. God is his answer. But, will admit that my view comes from his three-volume Systematic Theology; will have to go back and refresh on the book, "The Courage to Be," to see what it says. May take some time since don't have my book with me at this time. You might be right on the word courage in that book. Will let you know if I come up with anything else that is meaningful.

Thanks Robert...I'll have to read more about his views. Not sure I can do three volumes os Systematic Theology though. (whew!) I like Tillich and The Courage to Be a lot, and I don't want him to be saying that 'this is it.' I'd be happy to be wrong.
