I'm sternly opposed to randomly ordaining homosexuals regardless of whether or not they have asked to be ordained. I find the practice of randomly ordaining to be intrusive and uncalled for.

Good point Phil! One should never be ordained against their will.

So long as they are celibate, then there should be no conflict with Christian belief.

If it was up to me i would allow anyone with sincere belief in God and who wanted to be ordained to be so, but then i don't base my moral opinions on those of 3,000 year old bigoted text writers.

GIven the fact that perhaps every church or religion of man has "ordained" homosexuals in the past, I see no reason why it is even an issue. Priestly types are just able to come out of the closet now. Big deal, really. I do not understand why heterosexual people would be the slightest bit surprised lol. Hmmm. Men who like to hang out with other men in an all male environment... for the love of their father? *Imagines Freud giggling in his grave*

It would be interesting to see what percentage of the existing ordainee's are in fact gay anyway... I am led to believe it is higher than the population average...by quite a margin.

Interesting that a high number of homosexuals would be attracted to a religion that traditionally berates them.

I've been in and around seminaries for the past eight years, and the ones that I've been at had about 10% homosexuals.

I think it's incredibly sad that if a person wants to worship and lead others to a loving god, their sexuality has to come into the equation of their competency.
