Quote:
Jesus said, "I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hear me and open the door, I will come in." He did not say, "I stand at the door and knock. If no one opens the door, I will beat it down with a fire-axe and come in anyway." Being confident in one's religious conviction is one thing. But Christians should not engage in "actively recruiting" others. It's the honey that draws the flies in, not the net swinging about that ensnares them. We are not in the business of advertising. We are not in the business of saving souls. We are in the business of seeking and serving Christ in all people, loving our neighbor as ourself.

Why should you want to "prove them wrong," rather than celebrate what they're doing right? That's a little too adversarial.

I think people should be proud of their religious/spiritual belief and should be free to express it. That doesn't mean they can't be humble about it. Part of humility is understanding that you don't have all the answers.
But people should certainly express them. How else would we get to share points-of-view?

It depends if it's in America or Africa.

I'd like to boldly express my beliefs, right here and now, in the form of dance...just stand back a bit....
OK....(panting slightly)...careful, madam - my pirouette can be a little radical...(grunting and sweating now)...and leap....and leap...and finally...(breathing harder than a perv outside a convent shower block)....my entrechat....if any of it gets on you, it comes right out with cold water and some salt........................and rest. Peace be with you. |

It would be impossible for me not to (snark), but I could hardly hold others to standards that I arbitrarily set for myself. Too, I have seen assertive and egoistical behavior work very well for others, to positive ends.

That's not considered mainstream Islam (from what I've been explained).
