What is wrong with incest? (moral, mission, point of view, Old Testament)

The title is simple enough. If anyone has a moral problem with incest I would like to hear it, as I have not heard a convincing argument yet.

What is wrong with murder, after all we are all matter anyway right, some is just more complex. Is it wrong to break a rock? (although if you want to go by the old testament law you could marry your cousin, but it's against the governments laws)

I've yet to meet an emotionally and mentally healthy victim of incest. But I've met plenty of people who are struggling with the after effects of having been victimized. Have you ever met an emotionally and mentally healthy victim of incest?

Interestingly this came up in conversation the other day...
I was reminded then of a past lady member of my staff who would tun up at work in the morning chanting.
" incest is Best"

From a religious , social and legal point of view is is unacceptable in most countries.
I understand it is possible for siblings to marry in Holland with permission from the Crown.

The danger is in Genetic disorders in resulting Children. In the past this was imposable to avoid.

The sexual act between disallowed persons, would be as pleasurable as with any other...
So In actual practice it is far more common than people might believe.

However most of us have an inbuilt dislike, even of the idea, of incest.

Yes the person I mentioned in my post. She eventually went on to marry some one else as did her brother.

She never ever saw her self as a victim.

As I understand it, though I may be wrong, Homozygosity is one of the big problems with incest. Basically the allele of related persons tends to be the same, and in genetics (Though I'm no geneticist by any means) this means that recessive allele's that are deleterious (Harmful) that would otherwise have a very small chance of actually occurring have a much much much greater chance of occuring because both alleles are the same (2 unlikely recessives in one place with a heterozygosity but very likely in homozygosity.) This can result in serious developmental defects. And long before genetics was discovered it was noticed that intra-family children had higher rates of birth defects. There are psychological reasons as well I believe, but I don't know much about that.

He can speak for himself if he wishes, but I think the point was to show that any act, however heinous, can be trivialized or rationalized, as seems to be happening in threads like this with incest. It's an unfortunate amoral trend that I hope is choked out soon.

Mentally it violates sibling and parental trust.

Physically it violates sound genetic concerns.
