I am amazed at all the people who want to go around saying that the mormons worship a false Christ and all we want to do is go around and teach people about Christ. ...what was that scripture in Matthew about fruits and how to know people? ![]()

All I can say is, thank goodness we don't have the same views as Athanasius says the RCC has. If we did, we'd be the only Christians on the planet as we don't recognise anyone else's baptism as valid. We'd certainly have to say that RCs aren't Christians because their view of the Trinity (filioquism) is incorrect, etc. Instead, however, we say that we know where the Church is but not where She is not and that of course there can be Christians outside Her. Some may be close to the fullness of Truth and some further from it, but I could never deny that someone who tries sincerely to follow Christ is a Christian, no matter how misguided I see their faith to be. I would say, however, that I know plenty of RCs who do not take anywhere near so extreme a view as Athanasius and would more than likely agree with us on this. I'd like to raise this passage for consideration:
Now John answered Him, saying, “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us.” But Jesus said, “Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me. For he who is not against us is on our side. For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward. - Mark 9, 38-41 (NKJV) I think Christ's view would be that they follow Him no matter how many theological errors they accept and no matter whether they are part of the visible Church or not. James

The fact RC accepts other baptisms is an admission that authority isn't required and further evidence of the apostacy.

I think all these "debates" about who is a real this or that and who isn't does more harm than good to the religious peace and tolerance we wish to acheive on this forum. But maybe that's just me.... ![]()

If this forum is about religious education, the opportunity to correct errors held about individual faiths can be well used. What I find disquieting is the prevalence of telling other faiths what their beliefs are; when it is clear the writer has no apparent knowledge of what he is talking about.
