This is old news but I'm just curious what people think about one of the more succesful channelers out there who 'owns the copyright' to the spirit she channels. Wouldn't this alone be evidence enough of a sham?

How can a court, using reason, determine that indeed one person is the legitimate claimant to channel a spirit where another person is not? Is it not possible for two people to channel the same spirit?

I don't think it proves anything other than the person in question's desire to preserve their notoriety. To be sure, i find these channels to be HIGHLY suspect and would not assign much credence to them anyway.

As the spirit is (as far as the court can tell) a novel creation of the channeller, why couldn't anything written about the spirit be seen as a piece of intellectual property subject to copyright law implying ownership of the spirit. The spirit has an intangible value in the same way as any piece of IP has intangible value.

But if the spirit is indeed intellectual property then this can only mean that the spirit is purely a creation of the channeler. Not a real spirit. Thus it is protected intellectual property but does not authenticate the reality of the spirit.

However, if the person channeling maintains that the spirit is indeed authentic then all the "wisdom" given by the spirit is property of the spirit and not the one channeling. Therefore, why is it not possible for another person to channel the same spirit.

I wonder what the followers of J.Z. Knight, or rather, Ramtha, think about this. If they even know about it. What I take from this is that I need a career change. J.Z. makes far more than I do for just issuing forth platitudes. I just don't know if I could live with myself taking money from people in exchange for nonsense.

Protection, whether it is of a spirit, yourself or even your job has quite probably little to do with actual greed. It's always BEST to cut others some slack.
