Alright, I’ll begin this with saying that I firmly believe that Christ in the Son of God. That he was sent to earth to forgive mankind for their sins and in essence, form a bridge that can connect God with mankind. Furthermore, I am aware that this message will, more than likely, be meaningless to many people that read it, but I feel as though I am supposed to try to articulate my thoughts and beliefs. Now, if anyone wants 100% proof that Jesus live/was crucified then they are asking the impossible. As with many things in history, there requires a certain leap of faith. Especially when 2000 years ago when we currently only have two book shelves of historical documents from that era.
To begin, a question that I have thought about immensely is “what would convince someone that Jesus lived/was crucified/is one with God?” Lets’ say you are skeptical about there being a creator, God, what would it take for God to prove that he existed or that Jesus was sent? And if he did what you asked, would you still not believe? Regardless, it would take some leap of faith to believe because there is truly no way to know for sure, correct?
Obviously, I cannot address every issue with the crucifixion “debate,” but one important thing I would like to address first is “According to the gospels, who were the first people to witness an empty tomb and proclaim that Jesus had risen?” I find this extremely important because if, as many people say, the life/crucifixion/resurrection of Jesus was “made up” by early Christians, then why in the world would the first eyewitnesses to the empty tomb/resurrection be women?? It makes absolutely no sense why early Christians would make up such a monumental event that was first witnessed by women. Why? Because as everyone knows, women were severely looked down upon, subservient, and inferior to men. If early Christians wanted people to believe such a tale, the LAST people they would use as witnesses would be women.
Again, the same concept would hold true to Jesus from Nazareth. If Nazareth only existed as a burial place (the burial place is actually two kilometers outside of Nazareth), would the writers of the gospel be dumb enough to proclaim Jesus was from Nazareth? I highly doubt it because nobody would believe the “story” if the unimportant village did not even exist.
I will write more addressing evidence and such when I have time. This is somewhat of a start though. Have a good night everyone.
