wether Isis is the oldest egyptian god is irrelevent . And at the essence Isis/Osiris/Horus Mother/Father/Child.Isis and Osiris ruled together for many years before his death, So because the dad was murdered that discounts it as a family .

"traditional family" has to go back farther than that...

Yes I am sure it does.... but by that logic Isis outdates Plato...

the story of Isis didn't work out too well for the traditional family structure,

just as in life not all things work out perfectly that does not discount the importance of both parents to the child . Not everyone grows up in a perfect family structure. But generally someone always fills the role of Mother/Father. The essence is Mother/Father/Child that takes no feat of anything .

I think your right that one outweighs the other. The rights perspective is more important. But the perspective of wanting to be different is important in that the "protection of society by maintenance of the traditional family" defines that section of gays that desire a radical lifestyle or view their lifestyle as such. Conservatives want to protect society from change,
"radical" Gays would like to protect their lifestyle from becoming mainstream. These viewpoints are complimentary, and mitigate against change.
