Did Jesus go to India? (ritual, reject, tradition, mission)

I don't think that there's a snowball's chance in Hades that Jesus went to India. There's no evidence that he did, and all the evidence points to the contrary. If we imagine Jesus going to India, we have to completely reject everything that we 'know' about Jesus and come up with a completely different person - namely, someone who could afford to do it, a record that indicates that he did, and possibly some shread of evidence in the church fathers.

I think he did. There are many years in Jesus's young life that are unaccounted for.

Caravans were very common in that day. Some went to India on trading missions.

If I was a young man looking for adventure, and I had an uncle (Joseph) in the trading business, why wouldn't I beg to go on a caravan traveling to foreign lands?

Jesus has many hallmarks of someone who spent time with the masters of the east. If you are unfamilar with that spiritual culture, you will unable to make this comparison. I come from a yogic background. To me, it is possible.

Well there is a least academic study of the possibility Jesus went to India. I have a friend involved in this. I'll have a chat to him and get back to you.

The academic study of this topic stands completely outside of academia. It was explored in one journal article in at the turn of the last century, and no scholar has supported that article. The possibility of Indian influence in the NT is not considered by any NT scholar (be they Christian, atheist, or Buddhist). No classical historian will argue for it because there is no evidence at all for such an assertion.

That the NT does not include traditions about Jesus' early years is not evidence that he was in India. You may as well fantasize that he was on Mars.
