Perhaps, but I don't understand why religion has to be an ultimate source of morality. For instance, I don't think the ancient Greek religion was an ultimate source of morality for many of the ancient Greeks.

I think we're gonna get caught up in what constitutes a religion. Belief in Zeus and Aphrodite did not much affect morality. The gods were basically just humans with superpowers anyway. But I would argue that Socarates and Plato's philosophical idealism was a religion, and it had effects on their morality.
