Like let us just say we live in a time where people can be killed over differences or scirmishes.

So in that time to defend someone to the death is a display of love and admiration. Now should we kill people today for this. No, I do not think so. For times are a little different now. People now speak out of ignorance when then it was hatred. So it should be looked at different we treat people of ignorance a little different then those who have hatred towards Islam or the Messenger or Allah. The same goes for Allah.

But remember in an Islamic state these could very well be law and have to be abided by. But since there is no government that upholds true sharia it cannot be applied.

The Prophet forbid it because he did not want people worshipping him like they did with other prophets and Messengeres. That is how it starts with just a picture of someone. We have the story in the hadiths about the people just before Nuh when this concept of worshipping righteous people was first introduced.
Thanks for explaining it very well. I do understand that the image idea is a muslim belief(and my views on the Universal God are similar in a different way), but why try to force other cultures to follow your rules. I think that is wrong on any side.

I do not think it is forcing any culture to do anything. I think it is a bunch of ill informed people on both sides who are causing the drama and since drama sells newspapers and tv time then that is what you will see.

tv has never depicted reality well. I mean look at the "reality" shows we have.

Oh i agree on the aspect of the media. Don't even get me started on that, evil headlines sale.. So I as a non-believer of the muslim faith could put a picture on my website of Muhammad without having a bunch of people wanting to kill me? As far as the reality shows on television, I do not watch them and have never watched them. They are tv at its worst. Thank God we are moving away from that. I almost quit watching tv for a while there, not that i watch much of it anyway.

depends on the intention, but since you know now because of all the fuss that it is forbidden in our religion you doing it now would not be out of ignorance and people might look at it in the wrong light.

And you know there is always going to be someone who takes it wrong always. You can never please everyone in everything you do. But the thing we as muslims do is we put what God wants before what people, including ourselves want.

you know now what doing it would cause so why risk the uproar unless you are trying to cause mischief and what would be the reason meaning why would you need to put a picture of Muhammed on your website.

Really ask the question why is the person doing it, and then see if the response is warranted or not.

I've seen horrible things and have heard horrible things said about christians from the muslim population. When 9/11 occured there were celebrations being help by muslims here in the U.S., what kind of sick crap is that? But you dont see any christians shooting ak-47's, burning buildings, killing people and screaming down the street death to the muslims. I know not all muslim do this but there are a heck of alot.

Why is there a mosque that mocks the christan religion? In large words in the dome or something it says, how stupid would you have to be to think God had a son, or something like that. If the Catholic church engraved something like that about islam in one of our cathedrals the muslim countries would probably blow themselves up.

Tell that to the muslims who were killed when the towers fell. Tell that to the muslims who died. Tell that to any of the people who died. That affected everyone I do not care who you are or what you believe.

I saw pictures of Jews celebrating on a building so what. That is not the issue. We are not talking about people trying to justify something because of things that happen in their life. Look at the facts. there is not an issue in islam that has more of a concensus amongst the majority of all muslims than this one. EVERY MUSLIM WHO IS ON THIS FORUM DISAGREES WITH TERRORISM IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. We hate it globally it is condemned universally in the laws of Islam and forbidden in the Quran. Lets stop looking at these hated isolated incidents which in themselves are very horrible

LET US ALL OF US HATE TERRORISM ON A GLOBAL SCALE. LET US STOP LOOKING AT ALL THESE LITTLE INCIDENTS IN TERMS OF THE MASSIVE SCALE AT WHICH TYRANNY AND OPPRESSION REIGN FREELY ON OUR PLANET AS BEING MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE OTHER AND LETS STOP BLAMING EACH OTHERS RELIGIONS FOR SOMETHING THAT COMES UNDER THE SHAPE OF MANY DIFFERENT EVILS AND LEVELS. CAN WE ALL AT LEAST AGREE TO THAT. I AS A MUSLIM HATE WHAT HAPPENED ON 9/11, AND WHAT IS GOING ON IN IRAQ, AND AFRICA, AND SOUTH AMERICA, AND AUSTRALIA, AND EVERYWHERE ELSE ON THE PLANET WHERE PEOPLE ARE BEING ABUSED. I NOR ANYONE ELSE WILL TRY AND JUSTIFY ANY OF WHAT HAPPENED ON 9/11 OR ANY OTHER INCIDENT. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO IS TERRORIZING WE ALL OF US SHOULD HATE IT AND STAND UP. NO MATTER THE GROUP, GOVERNMENT, AFFILIATION.

What kind of statement is that. How does a mosque mock the christian religion.

What are you talking about

Side comment: People often I think put to much emphasis on the notion that the different relgions is why we have wars and concepts. As I was sitting on the floor contemplating on how this is a logical statement all things considering. I mean given all the evidence of constant fighting and turmoil and disagreements and taking of property etc etc. which at some level one can obviously see that it was the religious belief that stirred the initial difference.

Then I looked over at my two kids fighting over a toy on the floor now it dawned on me and I thought why are they fighting over a toy that they have two of. And my kids argue and disagree alot at the age of 3. They have no real understanding of what our religious beliefs are yet they will fight tooth and nail for something very insignificant.

I learned a lesson people fight because it is a part of our nature since we are all different we will all see and want things at different levels. The true cause is the conflict of desires. for it is the desires of the individual that causes us to fight on all levels whether religious, polically, socially, whatever.

So I realized that day from just looking at my kids that it is not the religions that stem the violence but it is the hearts of men that cause the evil in the world and the fighting.

It was always my understanding that religion was a way to control ones desires. Letting one's desires dictate the action is what leads to my opinion from the lesson my boys gave me to man's ultimate destruction. Just a little food for thought.

Yes it is the hearts of people that is corrupt. We spend time trying to solve the problems. No problem can be solved without knowing the cause thereof. Which doctor can cure a disease without first a diagnosis? This is the purpose of the diagnosis, so that the doctor may find the cause, thereby effecting the cure. This is the purpose of Allah having revealed the method of life for mankind from the beginning. These methods that have been in effect so long and that people find obsolete, are the very medicine for the corrupt heart. Every illness has a cure even spiritual illnesses.
