Preach, there's a painting of Muhammad in the U.S. Supreme Court, as part of a gallery of people who made significant contributions to jurisprudence. Now obviously the intent is to *honor* Muhammad. But to Muslims, it's still a no-no to have images of Muhammad. Muslims in this country have been trying for years, through peaceful means and the arts of persuasion, to have that picture removed. Something else could replace it -- a really beautiful embossed copoy of the Quran would do nicely. No one has threatened to blow anything up, rioted in the streets, or burned down anyone's embassy over that picture. Which proves rather definitively that it isn't some demand in Islam that Muslims go nutzo just because there's an image of Muhammad somewhere. For the record, it's also against my religion to make images of our founders, the Bab and Baha'u'llah. It's also a no no to depict them in plays and movies or anything of that sort. This could be an advantage, because you will never have to endure ponderous Baha'i religious movies around our holy days. ![]() |

Well he was is on the "no-fly list" and I don't think anyone is thinking of reconsidering. I'm not sure he it would be that he was roped into anything. Someone asked and he answered. He didn't say, "I'll get back with you, or I wouldnt' be qualified to answer". I suppose as a new convert maybe he
was a bit more eager and so on than some more regular guy would be. He might even regret it a bit. BTW, Rushdie was interviewed by Bill Moyers, and he was fascinating. --des |

So in that time to defend someone to the death is a display of love and admiration. Now should we kill people today for this. No, I do not think so. For times are a little different now. People now speak out of ignorance when then it was hatred. So it should be looked at different we treat people of ignorance a little different then those who have hatred towards Islam or the Messenger or Allah. The same goes for Allah. But remember in an Islamic state these could very well be law and have to be abided by. But since there is no government that upholds true sharia it cannot be applied. Quote:

why can't people respect the wishes of Muslims?
you know people got all in a tizzy about the "elephant dung madonna" and the "cusafix upsidedown in a jar of urine" too. The artists recieved death threats and so on. a little respect goes a long way. wa:do

I used to list it as such, but due to a running joke in some threads here I changed it on a lark one evening when I was feeling exceptionally silly. ![]() Obviously, I don't live in a FEMA Death Camp either, though at times traffic on I-285 may seem like that. ![]() |
