Since it just appears to be a lot of preaching going on by the OP - let's liven this debate up. Here was a common scene from my childhood when I'd often play in the foyer of the home:

"Knock, Knock" - - - -

Good luck with that, Sojourner. I've been asking the same question, in more detail, for months now, and never get a meaningful answer.

Since I've done a little study of Biblical prophecies (and extra-Biblical ones) concerning "time" I have a natural interest in how one arrives at 1914 for a date. I've never been able to figure a way to do that convincingly.

The only way I can think of is if one selects a different destruction of the temple as a starting point for Daniel's "abomination of desolation." Since there are a few possibilities for different starting points, it's possible.

But I'd like to hear May explain it herself rather than wrongly assume something.

And then...we can move on to how they might connect to the other time-related prophecies.

The problem is, it's a double standard. The JW's pride themselves upon "sticking to the Bible." In other words, they embrace a literalistic sola scriptura. And nowhere in the Bible is the year 1914 mentioned. Any mention of the importance of the year 1914 is, therefore, resorting to an exta-Biblical basis for their doctrine.

If Jesus didn't come the first time, he sure can't come back the second.

We've been getting this gloom and doom end-of-the-world BS for centuries, and nothing ever happens. When are the religious fundies going to catch on?
