Is it possible to meditate while walking? Is meditation only possible while sitting quietly? Can one meditate while working?

I can't imagine walking and meditating.
![]() I'm sure it's possible though. |

Walking meditation is something that can be practiced formally or informally. It can be done out in nature, or in a set space and pattern (walking a labyrinth).
I believe it is possible to somewhat meditate while working, especially at repetitive tasks which do not require active concentration to accomplish. This is different, though, than specific meditation entered into with no other foci; and as such, the results will differ as well.

Well I can tell you do not mediate while driving, I can tell you the outcome is not good

Well, you would have to not think about walking, and that might be dangerous if you don't have enough room.

I can meditate more effectively if I am walking, at least initially. The walking movement and peace and quiet of an outdoor scene is sort of like a prelude or entrance way to relaxation and the shutting down of mental processess. For me it's easier than simply sitting and trying to calm down.

As a backpacker I can say the answer is yes.
