No, you're not the only one.

In addition to that ponderation then would be which version is actually the 'true Islam' and who gets to decide?

Seems the ones in power consider themselves true believers and have the greatest influence on their followers.

Those who then come along and tell us that these leaders are not practicing 'true Islam' then try to indoctrinate us with what they think is the 'true Islam'.

Quite often, it seems that all of the versions contradict not only each other, but the Quran as well

Actually Laila, maybe I am showing my ignorance, but I do find it puzzling. In theory all Muslims follow the same teachings (to a large extent). In theory, one group, SOMEWHERE on the planet should have "got it right" by now, unless of course there is a fly in the oinment from the get go.

That is a bit ill informed saying "all the versions contradict the Quran". You'll find complete compatibility with the Quran if you looked (at some of the versions) hard enough, and you don't even have to go further than RF.

I don't care for comments like this either. Misconceptions need correcting, I'm certainly not interested in indoctrinating. So if I stick up for incorrect perceptions about my faith one would, by default, assume that I am preaching - Wow.
