1.) To see what they could do...? In other words, why not?

2.) I don't know, just speckulation and the belief that not everything needs a reason to happen, that some things just are.

To that answer, the scripture may have an answer. In the Book of Moses in the Pearl of Great Price (LDS scriptures) the answer (for me at least) is:

"For behold, this is my (God's) work and my glory -- to bring to pass the imoortality and eternal life of man." (Moses 1:39)

I see no reason to believe in a creator or a purpose. That answers the first two points.

To answer the third question, it frees me from attempting to make nonsense answers to silly questions. This is not a attack on you Becky, but on the entire range of tripe that constitutes what I undertsand as religion and theology.

The sixty million dollar questions; I haven't a clue. Sure I do often wonder -= for a few seconds. Then I realise I am such a small cog in a humongous mechanism, that I know I will never know the 'Big Picture' in this mortal life.

It doesn't affect me, though I do need sometimes to remember that it isn't going to change my behaviour in any way (if I did know); "It's up to God, not me".

Might I add here that the Bible also says that in the beginning was the word and the word was God. Scientists also say that the first sound to come out of creation was Om.

Of course, this begs the question, why did that absolute reality want to divide into many. What a coincidence, I heard an explanation for this on the radio last night. It divided so that it could love itself. Since Brahman is manifested in all aspects of creation, creation thrives on love and that is why love is the most powerful force on earth.

To answer your question on how it affects me -
I strongly believe that love is the most powerful force on earth so I agree with this 100%.

That begs the question why did it need to divide itself in order to love itself ? But I agree that Love is the most potentially wonderful ability that we can chose to adopt.

I therefore agree with your assertion on how it "affects me" - but I had never thought the process through in that way.

In my own experience with meditation, when feelings of love are sent out to the other persons meditating in the room, my own inner feelings of love increase significantly. So, I would say that when love is shared with others, it's power grows tremendously.

I'm rather new to opening my mind to the idea that god can be "the Creator" at all. I suppose if he is, that I don't believe god had any purpose or choice in creating life, any more than we had a purpose or choice in being born. It's his nature.

I think that because of the Image of God I've chosen, and because it makes sense to me.

I don't know how it affects me.
