As far as proselytizing. How insecure does a person have to be to get so worked up about such things. As long as their not violating any laws or using force then...who cares.
Hmm...interesting point! I don't think it's insecurity, I mean... I'm very secure with my faith and I have confidence in my people. I'm not surprised by their lack of success here and I am proud of it.

It just irritates me because it's so... foreign. Foreign is a really good word, actually.

Exactly I agree with this. Don't let it upset you, just kindly respond by saying I appreciate your concern but I'm a Muslim and always will be a Muslim...And that's it! I really don't think that it's right that those missionary people invade other's personal beliefs by preaching the word of God to someone of another religon. Although the only thing that settles that argument is the versue in the bible that encourages Christians to "spread the word" so you can't really blame them for that either, but I don't think it's right.

That's true, though, I didn't know that quote was in the Bible. But why don't our local Christians do this? And why can't those who do, do it in their own countries?

I can understand that.

After giving it some thought to try to correlate this to any experience I may have had I can understand a little better now. I won't describe the experience because I make really odd connections which usually go right past others. I'm a bit weird.

I do understand what it feels like to deal with religious people trying to convince me of the error of my ways or trying to save me. Trust me. I'm an atheist who still lives with Baptists and went through a few years of a spiritual recovery program. It can get tiresome. It is what they believe. It's never caused me harm in all but one instance.

I just want to note also, the emotions are the same as the discussions I've had complaining about Arab-style mosques in Bosnia. Some of you have participated in both. The opposition, to the core of my being, is identical to those two things - Christian missionaries and Middle Eastern mosques.

My parents church does missionary work in Kenya. Granted, they are not converting people because they pretty much went into a Christian community for some part but their purpose is not to convert but to work. Sort of a quasi-Peace Corps type missionary work.
