Which is superior, revelation or experience? If you had an experience of deity, would you take that as more authoritative than the revelations in holy scriptures? Or would you take the revelations in holy scriptures as more authoritative than your own experience of deity?

It would take an actual experience with deity to convince me that God exists anywhere outside of the human imagination.

I believe both have different intentions. One intends to empower the individual (experience) while the other intends to empower a group (revelation). Although technically for us catholics they would both be considered as revelation. We just make the distinction between private revelation vs. public revelation.

Isnt revelation based on personal experience as well as something to be read about in the authoritative texts? If so the personal version is likely to be more convincing because it is concurrent with experience.

What is the difference between revelation and experience or is "revelation in holy scripture" equivilant to "reading holy scripture"?
