Have you heard about this? Interesting.

"The book was found open to a page describing, in Latin script, Psalm 83, in which God hears complaints of other nations' attempts to wipe out the name of Israel"

It really is unbelievable to find something that old in the mud. I think that we will find out that it is a hoax.

But I don't think that something written has a good chance of surviving opened and unprotected.

Today we have acid in our ink that bonds it to paper - I don't think that the acidity in ink from 800CE is enough to be preserved in such conditions.

Hmm, you are probably right then. Actually that second link is the much more fascinating one, makes me want to find out more about ancient times there.

My dad called me very excited about this find, especially that it was opened up to the section in question. I hope that some reputable scientists do a thorough analysis on this book. Can't wait to see the results. Frankly looks way to convenient, but I am keeping an open mind.
