now i know all those guys who're saying: oh she's an angel and all that **** in songs,books,movies and anime that makes girls "Angels",i was a fool to believe that nonsense and i really thought about somegirls to be angels,but now lemme tell you something,through reading some verses of the quran and symmetrising them with my personal experience and with daily life,i came to understand the horrible truth: girls are NOT angles,they're only human beings,they have their sins,some of them are good,some are bad,but now i came to understand the more horrible one: some of them are DEVILS

The term "angel" used outside the religious context is only used to convey a sense of beauty and purity. You are reading into it way too much.

sounds like someone has been dicked over a few times lol. Personally I think men overvalue women... not intellectually mind you or even emotionally. I think that men tend to think with their "equipment" and as a result of women being the primary energy source for that equipment, men tend to bend over backwards for women. They sing songs and paint pictures and swoon; and none of it is necessary. What men fail to realise is that they are the primary energy source for women as well and they don't really have to compete as hard as they think they do. Most of the time, all you've got to be is yourself and women don't really like being worshiped as much as men think. It makes men look weak and not just a little pathetic. In fact, in my experience, the men who get the most women are the men who treat women with indifference... it peaks a woman's interest, makes her want him more.

Sad but true... and then they complain that the men in question are indifferent. Women are insane (a sentiment shared by many women I know).

Like Majikthise and Malus said, using the adjetive "angel" to describe a women is just a word to basically say "you're hot, I can't live without you, and all that other stuff." The Aerosmith song basically sums that up.

I think that the only reason some cultures view angels as feminine is because some of the traits they are percieved to have are equated with some of the traits that are sometimes associated with women, like empathy and exuberance over existence. (I'm not saying that males don't have these traits, just that, in some cultures, they're more often associated with females.) Personally, I tend to think of them as being genderless, or encompassing both genders.

The OP does sound a little jaded, like someone who has been hurt too many times. Truly though, the comparison between a compliment or a pet name and the religious term is strange. Of course a woman isn't really an angel simply because some may be called that...just like a woman isn't a witch just because someone calls her that (though in a few cases that may be true )
