Punjab is the combination of two words, Punj + ab,
Punj means five,
ab means Rivers,

Land of five rivers.

I would be surprised if you hadn't checked the etymology of the word but it seems to stem from the word Ramida which refers to scorched and burning hot.

Ha, ha! It can also start with Rama, one of the avatars of Vishnu and it ends with Dan, short for Daniel a hebrew name.
