Anything outside of church that's exciting in the christian life?

There is, of course. But inside a Church service isn't only exciting, it is also spiritual. I can't get anything spiritual at a rock concert or a roller coaster- although they can be fun and exciting.

First off, what are these modern apocalyptic stories mostly based on? And what makes it special is its historical significance. Every "Left behind" style book is based on the events described in the NT, which can be said to be the "original", how many Apocalyptic stories were anything like in back in the day? What other kind of "End of the world" type stories do we see written throughout history? This is the story of what the Apocalyptic Jewish Nazarene sect accepted as their awaited Messiah, who would deliver them from both the oppression of the foreign ruler and the corrupt collaborating council that tried to marginalize them and rewrite their ancestral rules according to their own dictates.

And then soon after this Messiah is rejected, the same Pharisees who were so adamant about cracking down on those who claimed to abide by his teachings were swift to declare another man to be Messiah, who brought their entire society to ruin. I find it quite compelling, but it certainly depends on what the reader is looking for.

i actually think the bible is quite boring if read for entertainment value.
But i dont read it for entertainment, i read it to gain some wisdom.
i actually prefer the old testament, proverbs probably my favority book.
The jesus on, dead and risen i avoid like the plague. In fact i dont even think im going to church for easter, i am so sick of hearing the story of jesus.
Same with some of the storys. i avoid them. I really dont care if the israelites were freed slaves and marched accross a desert. i really just want knowlege, wisdom.
Same reason i have read books not in the bible and other things, knowledge, wisdom.

I don't know about the Bible being boring. Some of the stories- like that of Samson, King David, etc. can be pretty exciting. A few of the books might be partially boring, though.

1) Viruses, wars, invasion, etc.
2) Did I say anything about historical significance?
3) Of course a "left behind" type of book would be....why wouldn't it be?!?

But you answered the question so thank you

Very interesting points - thanks.
Proverbs is intersting to read, though I wouldn't consider it exciting personally...

It must depend on what you're looking for while reading it, and how much emphasis you put on what you read.

People get bored when they aren't interested in something.

I get excited about the Bible all the time and Christianity is full of excitement.

However I do get bored with repetition so the Book of Leviticus with its repetetive requirements for sacrifice are boring for me. Also Deuteronomy with its list of laws can be boring in places. However I am into genealogy so a list of names is exciting to me while others would consider it boring.
