I don't know if there is a deity out there, all things are possible I suppose. However I am pretty sure god, as portrayed in the Bible, and all the other gods worshipped by humans are inventions of the human mind. Many people, not all, seem to have the need to worship something above and beyond themselves. Since they climbed out of the primeval swamp, they have created single and multiple deities who become the objects of their devotion, often attributing to said deities incredible and impossible feats. I don't doubt for one moment that people have religious experiences which they claim are proof that their deity exists, but I reckon all such experiences come from within the human mind. It is such an incredible organ it can convince a person black is white!
I doubt this side of the grave we will ever be able to prove or disprove the existence of a deity, and if belief in one does it for you, go for it, providing your belief system isn't abusive to others. |

I refer you to Voltaire: "If god did not exist it would be necessary to invent him"

If there is a god, I think we wrapped 'em up in a more ape-like protrayal so we as a specie could relate to him better.

A little honest observation is all it takes to realize that even if there is a literal God, in practice God is indeed a human (and personal) creation.

Well, I am happy to continue to say that there is a God and He created us.

God as presented by me is surely a product of my mind. Reality too. In a sense I created both.
Doesn't mean that either, neither or both exist independently of me |

Personally think it is illogical to say that we crated God, as it then leads to the question "who created us?". The buck has to stop somewhere. The problem is when we take God as being separate to us, it implies that we can exist independently, this is not the case as God not only created, but God sustains and dissolves all that was created (this is the march of time). As to the nature of God, that becomes more clear when we see God and creation as being linked, as One. Whist a person continues to not recognise God and Creation as one, the question of creator verus creation and cause and effect will drive them around in endless circles.
