Let's face it: America has a culture that encourages decadence and rewards people who pursue vanity and take advantage of others in the name of capitalism and democracy. America has a political system where it is legal for megacorporations to bribe politicians. The educational system is so defective that many high school graduates cannot even point out, say, Afghanistan, on a map (this was a real statistical example I heard, although I forgot what the numbers were; and there are MANY annecdotal examples of American stupidity). And the vast majority of the people believe that they live in the greatest country on earth.

Obviously, America's days are numbered.

What will you do when America collapses? Personally, I plan to be out of the country immediately after I get my Associates degree and age 18.
However, it depends on what exactly happens to America. If it's taken over by a foreign country, I'd really hope I got out of there in time, depending on the country. If an internal revolt brings down the government, on the other hand, I may decide to come back and fill in the power vacuum, unless the megacorporations are still standing (in which case, they would immediately form an oligarchy).

I don't think that its decadence that will destroy America. Democracy will ultimately be conquered by the over-regulation of education (which produces worthless morons who can neither serve as citizens or soldiers) and the under-regulation of industry and wealth.

America won't collapse on its own.

If the Republicans ever get back in power, they will push the American military beyond its limits, finalizing the dimize of America as a superpower. Even if we win the war, we will be so far in debt to China and India that we will slip into third world status.
