What languages do you know? (hell, America, Hebrew, conservative)

What languages to the members here know, and which ones do they want to learn?

Obviously, I know a little Latin (just enough to misinterpret a text), and I would consider myself advanced in Ancient Greek (specifically, I can read Homeric, Attic, and the Hellenistic dialects, and have read a few others...though with difficulty).

I intend to learn Hebrew, Modern Greek, and maybe German (that's my conservative list...I tend to dream a lot more lol).

I also know a little English .

Now, what about yall?

The only languages I can speak fluently are English and French. I know some Latin and some Romanian, but probably couldn't carry on a conversation in either.

And I can count to ten in Spanish and Gaelic.

I wouldn't worry about that on Latin. I've taught myself most of what I know (which is very little lol). In Ancient Greek, I am sad to say, few people teache Ancient Greek to be spoken, and I was taught solely to read and write (that's part of the reason I want Modern Greek. I want a Greek I can speak lol).

I taught myself Latin solely because when I was in college, we had to do an assignment for this class and one of my classmates asked if she could do it in french because it was her first language. The teacher said "Yes, you can do it in french. You can even do it in Latin if you wanted." So, to be annoying, I did it in Latin, lol!
Romanian is pretty much a dead language, I don't know anyone who teaches it, but I wanted to learn it for an monologue I had to do for a class in which my character was Romanian, so I taught myself some. I loved annoying my teachers in school.

I can understand that, but I tended to stay out of my professors' (or teachers') way. I was tempted several times to write my research papers in Greek or Latin just to see the response...but it was too much work.

So, did she read it in Latin, or did you get a free grade?
