People can definitely be sick. It wouldn't surprise me if it was true honestly. There are so may strange actions out there...

Well, apparently fisherman around the world have used domesticated animals, not as any traditional practice but a small number criminally prosecuted, as bait but this particular website looks like a for profit business possibly trying to scam people out of their money under the guise of being charitable.
I call BS on the video. It may even be an intentional farce. What the heck? Global warming, cats and bait for fish? Perhaps a call to the SPCA or Humane Society inquiring about donations from one Grady Warren? edit: Not that I wouldn't put it beyond human beings to engage in such behavior. The video itself is not very convincing.

It's a hoax. Just do a quick google search.

Adsavvy and some animal welfare sites reveal it as a hoax. I think the rather placid attitude of a kitten being speared by a pretty mean hook is somewhat of a giveaway.
What scares me is the absolute anti-human attitude of animal welfare activists on the sites I perused looking into the posted story. The interesting question to me is if the whole thing is a joke hoax or an actual con in order to bilk people out of their money. If the latter it would be nice to know that those who made the video were prosecuted.

It's quite obviously a hoax. You would have to be a complete and utter idiot to give money to those people.

Thanks, guys. I was hoping it was a hoax. The website did look a bit dodgy -- I didn't send any money.
![]() The Reunion scandal was real though. I googled the paper in Mestemia's link and found some archived articles. There was even a letter of indignation from Brigitte Bardot, who somehow got wind of it. |
